Catch of the Day

The SuperRad Fam went up to Lady Rad's parents for Thanksgiving this weekend. In addition to a snow-covered forest and coma-inducing levels of food, Team SuperRad got to experience another holiday cliche - sharing a bed with a toddler.

Because we had only one pack-n-play available, we decided that the Mu was old enough to be able to sleep on an inflatable mattress next to our bed while Q took the pack-n-play. This idea was short-lived when Mu informed us that his new digs were "spooky." He crawled into bed with us and the next thing I knew, he and Lady Rad somehow managed to take up about 90% of the bed.

In the middle of the night, Q woke up to eat; I got out of bed to help Lady Rad change her. It suddenly dawned on us that someone really needed to check on Mu in order to make sure he wasn't going to roll of the bed. Literally, as I walked into the bedroom, Mu was rolling off the bed in his sleep. I sprinted across the room as his little body gingerly rolled off the side and headed to the hardwoods below. In something that would have been shot in slow-motion had a camera crew been on me, I managed to catch him in mid-air - his little head and body cradled in my hands and stopping his impending crash.

I placed him back in the center of the bed, propping pillows all around him as a make-shift barrier; all the while, the Mu never even stirred from his deep slumber.

Walking back into the room where Lady Rad and Q were getting set up to eat, my wife asked me how the Mu was. "He's asleep," I replied, "No big deal."

After all, she's got enough on her plate right now to be bothered with such a story.
